Woodstock, Georgia’s The Hope Center provides a variety of emergency pregnancy services, including advisory offerings that help young women decide what to do in the event of unplanned pregnancy. While the majority of these services are intended for women, The Hope Center works with the men in their lives. as well.
In the event of an unplanned pregnancy, men should focus on four key behaviors, the first being to listen to his partner’s concerns and emotions at all times. A woman experiences a wide range of emotions throughout the course of a pregnancy and needs to be able to share these feelings with her partner.
Likewise, the man should not feel uncomfortable sharing his thoughts and emotions involving the pregnancy. This includes admitting when he is nervous or anxious. In addition to listening, communicating, and admitting their fears, men should do all they can to educate themselves both on what to do during pregnancy and what the first few weeks and months of raising a newborn will be like.
